ED attaches Rs 400 crore Jaypee assets - what this means for 19,000+ homebuyers still waiting

Big news for anyone tracking the Jaypee Infratech saga - ED has attached assets worth Rs 400+ crore belonging to Jaypee Infratech under PMLA. This comes after their earlier accusation that the company laundered approximately Rs 100 crore of homebuyer funds.

Here's what we know from ET Realty's coverage: - ED has been investigating Jaypee Infratech under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) - The company collected approximately Rs 32,825 crore from homebuyers over the years - Manoj Gaur (promoter) was previously arrested in connection with these proceedings - Jaypee Wishtown and Jaypee Greens projects in Noida and Greater Noida are at the centre of the dispute - 19,000+ homebuyers are still waiting for possession of their units

The ED's case is that money collected from homebuyers was diverted and not used for construction. NBCC took over the stalled projects under Supreme Court orders, but construction pace has been a concern.

For those of us who have been tracking this - the PMLA attachment is significant because it means the ED now has direct financial claim over these assets, which could complicate NBCC's revival plan.

Questions for the community: - Has anyone received possession in Jaypee Wishtown or Jaypee Greens recently? - What's the current construction status on your tower/block? - Has the NBCC handover actually improved things on the ground, or is it still slow?

This case is a landmark for homebuyer rights in India. The fact that regulatory agencies are still actively pursuing Jaypee shows the system is at least trying to hold developers accountable. But for 19,000 families, accountability doesn't equal a roof over their heads.

This hits close to home - I'm from Ghaziabad and have family friends who booked in Jaypee Wish Town in 2011-12, expecting possession by 2015. It's 2026 and the matter is still dragging through courts. The ED attachment is significant but it cuts both ways for homebuyers. On one hand, it signals auth
